RANCHI: The Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh and his counterpart in the state Chandrashekhar Dubey, both from
Congress, blamed the Jharkhand government for the state lagging behind during the Rashtriya Saras and Khadi Mela inauguration.
Dubey said, "For the development of the state, industries sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), but they do not set up their industry here.
As a result people migrate to other states. We have 40% of the country's minerals but still people here are unemployed and the state remains underdeveloped."
Ramesh said, "I agree that the state has 40% of country's total minerals, but it is still not developed because it has ignored its people. The state government has ignored the basic requirement for development which is utilization of its human resources. The central government has enough funds for the state's development, but each time it is allotted funds are returned because the money doesn't reach the people."
Ramesh also said, "It has been 13 years, but still the state is underdeveloped compared to South Indian states because there is no stable government here until now. The only thing that the state needs to do is look inside and start working for the people by involving them."
Nearly 500 stalls have been put up at the fair which has completed its 10th year. At the inauguration, Gotipura dance from Odisha, Bihu from
Assam, folk dance from Chhattisgarh and Chhau from Jharkhand were presented. Several guests from the state's rural development department, khadi board of India and city's bureaucrats were present at the fair's inauguration. The fair will conclude on January 11, 2014.
